Often in our quest for that extra bit of horsepower we find ourselves one quiet Sunday night hunched over an intake tube or throttle body with a bit of sandpaper in one hand and an oddly shaped drill bit in the other, angrily scouring through forum posts about the exact angle at which our 4000 grit bit of sandpaper should hit the lip of the throttle body and why an a 5/64″ drill bit through the butterfly valve will make your car quicker than an Italian taxi driver delivering cargo marked FRAGILE in 10 different languages. We do our dues, and sand away, we drill and port, and polish and perform acts on aforementioned tubes worthy of a cameo appearance on a German erotica channel.
And then inevitably we put it all together, and our butt dynos are instantly in tune with the harmonic balance of nearby wildlife. We feel the rush that an extra picometer of throttle body opening delivers. Our better looking optically reflective intake tube will surely keep the heat away compared to those plastic black OEM tubes and bring about response times in line with most Formula 2000 cars. Then one day we brave it to the dyno, after we’ve done our intakes and exhaust tips, and we lose 10hp…. But HOOOW?!?!?
Now flustered and in mild denial, we flip back to our forums to pose a question in that thread. Perhaps we should’ve used 5000 grit sandpaper for its inherent air charge accelerant properties, no?
We spot a thread by vettefan84, titled 200rwhp in a day… Appears he’s just dropped his car off in the morning and by the next day, he went to the same location to pick it up, shocking I know, with a dyno sheet stating categorically that no sandpaper was involved and he’s now 200rwhp over stock at the wheels. With a stock intake tube and throttle body… Sacrilege. Vettefan84, if you exist, the collective sandpaper totting tube polishing crowd would like to express their dislike of you.
Moral of the story, don’t make love to your intake tube, get a SUPERCHARGER!!!
Here’s what ECS Says about it
With the ECS Supercharger System, You get more. A lot more. This is the kit that set, and retains the record for the fastest supercharged LS2 Corvette in the nation ([email protected]) and has proven itself for thousands of miles on Corvettes around the world.
It’s not the cheapest system for your car, but it is the most complete. It was designed to work with your factory cooling system (Even on Z51s and Z06s), and retains provision for factory, or after market oil coolers. We include things that greatly add to reliability such as heavy duty belt tensioners and steel double bearing idlers, as well as stainless steel hardware, high quality silicone hoses and high grade, stainless steel t-bolt clamps. All things, that are more often than not, considered upgrades by competitors.
A Superior Belt System
When you install a SC System on your C6, you dramatically increase the load on the vehicles belt system. That’s why we start our C6 system by addressing one of the most critical aspects of a centrifugal supercharging system – not addressed by other SC manufacturers. We start by including a super strong, custom belt tensioner designed, specifically, to handle the increased belt load. We go further by providing zinc coated steel, double walled ball bearing idlers to replace the factory plastic idlers that are expected to handle the belt load in lesser systems.
Strong and Functional Brackets
ECS uses a proprietary bracket system that provides the most belt wrap possible, while still being user friendly enough to enable easy and fast belt changes when necessary. Other systems will require you hours of additional labor to pull the head unit to perform a simple belt change. The ECS brackets are made in house from 3/4 in billet aluminum and include steel idlers along with a stout slide idler, allowing maximum belt wrap and traction.
The Highest Efficiency Intercooler
The C6 Corvette is a “front breather”. Meaning all the air that cools your radiator and AC condenser passes through the nose of the car. That’s why ECS started from scratch when designing our C6 intercooler. The large 17 x 3.5 x 8 in core has proven to support more than 1200 hp, and still provides adequate airflow across the front of the car to allow your AC and cooling systems to keep the car operating as it should, without the added cost of a larger radiator and fans. With the ECS intercooler you won’t need to scoop additional air from the bottom of the car in the attempt to manage heat. Doing this only causes lift on the nose of the car and disturbs the air flow as it was designed in the C6. The Intercooler features a 3 inch inlet and a 4 inch outlet to maximize cooling and airflow that so critical to your supercharged Corvette.
Top Rate Materials
At ECS we believe that quality is in the details… that’s why all we use the top materials… stainless steel hardware, brand new flow matched injectors, zinc coated steel idlers, 6061 aluminum ducting, stainless steel t-bolt hose clamps, high quality 4 ply silicone hoses, lifetime air filters…. Other kits in the market will use modified stock injectors, plastic idlers, factory belt tensioners, steel ducting, and lesser quality materials, then give you options that are available to cure a known issue or present revision after revision to try and offset shortcomings in design. At ECS we do our best to do it right the first time. Not offer revision after revision in an attempt resolve known shortcomings in design.
Head Unit Options
The Paxton Novi 1500 has been the core of our C6 system for a number of years. This head unit features a self contained oiling system, and super quiet operation making it the top option for most customers. While many customers choose the ECS Supercharging System for its unmatched features and reliability, others choose the ECS Package because it presents far more growth potential that any other supercharging system for the Corvette. Almost any system can deliver 500 rwhp on a factory LS2, but how many of them can exceed 700rwhp? ECS can.
Possibly the best feature of the Novi 1500, is the scalable power it provides. It will provide 500-600 rear wheel horsepower on otherwise stock C6’s, but when uncorked, it can provide enough boost to generate more than 800 rear wheel horsepower on a properly set up engine. Other manufacturers start off with less expensive, and smaller head units that don’t present nearly the power output of the Novi 1500 leaving you in a situation that when you want more power, you will need to purchase a completely new head unit ($3000+) or a blower cam package ($2500+) to come close to the power the base ECS kit provides.

Final Thoughts & Verdict
With so many Forced Induction kits on the market, why do we at DMS prefer the ECS Novi 1500?
If you own a Gen 5 Camaro, C5, C6 or C7 Corvette the ECS kit provides all the power you need without any side effects or danger to your engine. It is an extremely well honed and proven kit.
ECS kits come with a bigger head unit than most other kits. This allows you to build power all the way to 750 hp with just pulley changes and supporting mods. If your fueling and engine can support it an ECS can be spun enough to give you upward of 800rwhp (that’s close to 900 at the crank).
The ECS Novi kits also come with the best designed brackets on the market by far. This makes belt changes much easier and installations less intrusive.
The kits come complete with everything needed for the install, but do require new ECM remapping and tuning.

The ECS Paxton Novi 1500 Supercharger Kit is our bread and butter, go to kit. This does not make it boring or in any way shape or form like your granny’s box of chocolates that were made when telegraphs were cool and cars were paced by most wildlife.
We cannot stress enough how well engineered and sorted it is. It provides ample power, room to grow without costly head unit swaps and plenty of grunt all the way to the top end. Installation time and effort is relatively straightforward and we’ve yet to receive anything but praise from customers who’ve had this kit installed.
